About Dr. King

I identify as a biracial (half Filipina and half Caucasian) cishet woman (she/her). Born and raised in Seattle, I spent the majority of my life living in the pacific northwest. I now live in Kent with my husband, son, and two dogs.

I specialize in working with adults who struggle with building and maintaining healthy/happy relationships. Many of my clients feel a lot of pain in their romantic and/or familial relationships. Some clients feel unsupported, unappreciated, or invalidated and struggle with communicating with their loved ones. Others feel unsafe with their partner because of their own past trauma, anxiety, or depression. Some of the individuals I work with have been diagnosed with ADHD or have a partner with that diagnosis. They may have a difficult time connecting with one another and understanding each other’s experiences.

My therapeutic approach is to meet my clients where they are emotionally and psychologically. We will take the necessary time to create a trusting, safe, and secure therapeutic relationship. I work with clients at their own pace while providing them with the knowledge, support, and acceptance they need to make changes when they are ready.

I strive to provide a consistent, warm, and validating environment. I believe it is essential to treat the whole person. Clients are encouraged to explore their challenges, learn more about themselves, and develop new skills. Clients learn how to increase their awareness of how their bodies and mind impact one another and how to better manage psychological and physical distress. I work collaboratively with clients to identify appropriate treatment modalities (e.g. hypnotherapy, DBT) to help them not only feel better but achieve their personal goals.
