Telehealth Services in all PsyPact Participating States

Psychological interventions provided via telehealth have been researched and consistently found to be effective. Often clients prefer the convenience of being able to participate in counseling from the comfort of their own home or office. Telehealth also allows providers to work with individuals, who would not otherwise be able to attend sessions in person. Although telehealth may be accessed almost anywhere, there are still strict regulations regarding where licensed psychologists may practice. Clients are typically required to be located in the state where the psychologist is licensed. However, there is an exception via PsyPact.

What is PsyPact?

The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, or PSYPACT, is an interstate compact designed to increase access to mental health care services across state boundaries. Psychologists with an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) are able to provide unlimited telehealth visits to patients in participating states.

Unlike subscription-based therapy options, PsyPact practitioners must meet specific requirements and go through an accreditation process to ensure that each PsyPact practitioner meets a certain level of professional experience and education.

PsyPact allows clients to have greater access to care via telehealth in all PsyPact participating states. It allows licensed psychologists to provide continuity of care as clients relocate or travel. Psychologists are able to reach populations that are currently underserved, geographically isolated, or lack specialty care, such as gender-affirming services.
